Steampunk and Atlantis – what more could you want?!

This third installment of the adventures of Romulus Buckle finds him under the ocean rather than on board his beloved airship, the Pneumatic Zeppelin. In his quest to gain allies to aid in his fight against the Founders, an establishment type outfit wanting to take control over the little guys (or everybody not Founders) he ends up battling aliens, the prospective allies, AND the Founders. Not to mention getting shipwrecked and almost drowned.

A delightful addition to the series, we gain further insights into the characters in this installment. Even though we don’t get to see much of the airship, there are submarines and underwater cities, populated with pseudo-Greeks, to make up for it. And it is a satisfying romp with lots of action and gore, though I think I could have done with less of the latter. All in all a very good story, which leaves me waiting for Book Four! — David Reynolds
