Jace has a past and identity that is a ghost haunting his every move. His looks cause people to whisper and to point fingers. He is a half-blood, an animal viewed by most, that is dangerous and soulless. Yet in the middle of all this Jace finds a friend who is willing to look beyond the surface to find the heart of a struggling young man who desperately what’s to believe there is a God that loves him and people who love him regardless of how he looks or where he came from. Jace is now enjoying the peace of acceptance and love, it truly has been a long road. But that peace is shattered when a devastating crisis turns his world upside down causing his faith to splinter and bring back the ghosts of his tragic past.
Kyrin Altair and her twin brother are taken from their home at an early age because of the special abilities they possess. Years of training sharpens their skills. Kyrin and her twin are waiting for the time when they can be free, but it appears that the emperor has special plans for Kyrin as her observations skills are very much needed in these trying days when the supreme ruler is facing those who may be disloyal to his throne. Kyrin’s faith in Elôm is put to the test as her new position puts her in direct conflict with the emperor.
Ms Knight has penned a remarkable story that has all the earmarks of “epic saga” written all over it. The remarkable penmanship of this gifted writer puts her, in my opinion, in the same class as J.K. Rowling, C.S. Lewis and Tolkien. She weaves the reader into the story and one cannot help but feel the pain, terror, hope, loss and love that spins this tale into a fast paced, adventure driven tale that will take your breath away. This will certainly become a Christian fantasy classic in the same vane as Narnia. — Steven C. Macon, editor
